There’s always a counterpoint

All issues worth debating have points which support a particular stance on the issue and points which support an opposite stance.

In other words, there’s always a counterpoint.

What matters is distinguishing between those points that matter because they have high explanatory power for the outcome of the issue and those that don’t matter.

The corollary to this is that you can be fooled by focusing your attention on the points that don’t matter while ignoring or downplaying the importance of those that do.
